Each procedure type has its own point tier based on the frequency you can perform each procedure. This program is designed so that no matter what procedure category you choose to donate in (whole blood, double red, platelets) points will accumulate fairly independent of what tier you donate in over the course of the program.
The Red Cross Racing program is set-up such that you get points based on each procedure and not the number of units/pints. Only one type of donation can be reported. Points will not be credited to accounts for a platelet donation in addition to a whole blood donation. Please select a single procedure type to report when recording your donations.
Participants can accrue points by donating or presenting to donate whole blood, platelets or double red cells between January 16, 2010 and January 15, 2011. Additional donation procedures may, at the sole discretion of the Red Cross, also be eligible for points. To accrue points, participants must report their donation at redcrossracing.com. Donations must be reported by January 24, 2011 at 11:59:59 PM CST. Points will be listed as pending until they can be verified. This verification process takes between 5-10 days. All pending points will be verified before the point expiration date. Red Cross reserves the right to use its judgment to resolve any disagreements about point awards.
Participants can also accrue points for referring news users to the program. This can be done by clicking on the "Refer Your Friend" link on the right side of the homepage. This link will only appear once you are logged in. Here you can enter email addresses of the people whom you wish to refer. When the user(s) of the email address(es) you have referred register for Red Cross Racing and successfully report blood donation activity, a one time addition of 25 points will accrue in your account for each successful email registration that reports blood donation activity. It is important to note that the user you refer must sign up for Red Cross Racing with the email the referral was sent to. You can view the status of your referrals at any time by logging into Red Cross Racing and clicking on the Refer a Friend link and then navigating to the Referral Status tab.
